(NAPSI)—Intriguing, evocative and beautiful works of art have come from the hand of famed sculptor Strong-Cuevas. Now, her new book looks into her work, career and friendships to find insights into her creations. In it, she reveals how as a child she knew she was destined to do great things in the world of art.
Strong-Cuevas carves stone and casts in bronze, stainless steel and aluminum, and many of her pieces involve shapes and planes harking back to Egyptian and Mayan cultures.
Her works have been on display in New York’s Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza in solo and group shows and in many outdoor exhibits.
According to Donald Kuspit, of World Sculpture News, “Strong-Cuevas is a master of mass and monumentality (more particularly, the monumental scale, whatever the size of the work). Both are made more emphatic through the dramatic use of voids, the interplay of straight and curved lines as well as the geometric and organic, and, more broadly, an intricately displaced geometry.” Her new book is amply illustrated with photographs to prove it. Art lovers, history lovers and anyone who likes a good story will enjoy this book.
