When moving to a new home, watch out for stowaways: gypsy moths. These insects are among the most destructive pests of trees and shrubs in America. So the US Department of Agriculture requires homeowners to inspect and remove gypsy moth egg masses from household goods prior to moving across state lines—and to get an official certificate of inspection. Then, just give the inspection certificate to your moving van driver, advises the American Moving and Storage Association. To help, a free gypsy moth removal checklist and additional information can be found at Moving.org.
